A cat that lives exclusively indoors spends significantly more time sleeping and eating than being physically active, so its energy requirement is rather moderate.
Lack of exercise in cats leads to slowed intestinal activity. Possible consequences are digestive disorders that can lead to soft faeces and unpleasant stool odour.
An indoor cat spends 3-4 hours daily grooming its fur. This encourages the swallowing of hair and the formation of hairballs in the stomach and intestines.
